How to revive national consciousness to snatch from the claws of neo-colonialism and imperialism this wonderful heritage of pride that our ancestors left us? The situation in Haiti is getting worse day by day. Is it a curse? We wonder. No. Never | Haiti, which gave birth to black freedom in the Americas and did good to many other nations, cannot be cursed. I would rather subscribe to the idea of the irresponsibility of some of the contemporary Haitian leaders vis-à-vis the country, their attitude mired in laxity and individualism.
But believe at the same time that the solution to the problem is in the situation: that by casting a scrutinizing glance at the past, by developing a national consciousness, by involving our Diaspora in the fight for survival of Haiti, by disciplining ourselves, and by embracing Africa, our motherland, we will succeed.
